Deleting files or reformatting doesn't remove data. We sanitise every drive with the method its technology needs, verify the result, and put it in writing.
Method by drive type
The right method for each drive
Solid-state drives store data differently from hard drives, so one method doesn't fit all. We follow recognised sanitisation guidance for each technology.
Hard drives (HDD)
Every sector is overwritten, then a verification pass confirms the result.
SATA SSDs
The drive's built-in firmware Secure Erase, which reaches areas a normal overwrite can't.
NVMe drives
NVMe Sanitize or secure Format, run at firmware level and checked afterwards.
Phones & tablets
Cryptographic reset, with checks that the device is removed from accounts and device management.
Failed or damaged drives
Physically shredded, with the serial number recorded before destruction.

- Drive type, capacity and serial number
- Sanitisation method used
- Verification result: pass, or destroyed
- Date, time and technician
- Final outcome: reused, parts or recycled
UK GDPR
Supporting your obligations
Under UK GDPR your organisation remains responsible for personal data on devices it disposes of. We act as your data processor under a written data processing agreement, follow your instructions, and give you the records you need for your own compliance files.
If your policy says no drive leaves intact, choose shredding when you book, or remove drives before collection. We'll record it either way.
